Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the website of Film- und Medienstiftung NRW GmbH published at www.filmstiftung.de.

As a public body within the meaning of Section 10a of the North Rhine-Westphalia Act on Equal Treatment of Persons with Disabilities (BGG NRW), we strive to make our website accessible in accordance with the provisions of the BGG NRW and the North Rhine-Westphalia Regulation on Accessible Information Technology (BITV NRW).

Status of Compliance with Requirements

The accessibility requirements are derived from the BGG NRW and the BITV NRW.

Verification of compliance with these requirements is based on a self-assessment conducted on September 10, 2026.

Based on this review, the website is partially compliant with the aforementioned requirements due to the incompatibilities and exceptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

Unmet accessibility requirements

The content listed below is not yet fully accessible:

Images without alternative text

Some images on the website currently lack sufficient alternative text. As a result, the content displayed is partially inaccessible to users of screen readers. This applies in particular to older editorial content as well as individual images in the media library. Decorative images are marked as such whenever possible so that they are ignored by screen readers.

Action: Alternative text will be systematically added for essential and frequently used images. New editorial content will always be published with appropriate alternative text.

Non-Accessible PDF Documents

Some of the PDF documents available on the website do not yet fully meet accessibility requirements. This applies in particular to funding guidelines, fact sheets, forms, publications, and archived documents that have not been optimized for use with screen readers.

Action: New PDF documents will be created to be accessible whenever possible. Existing documents will be reviewed step by step and—where possible—made accessible or supplemented with accessible alternatives.

Videos and Moving Image Content

Some older videos may not have captions, audio descriptions, or complete text alternatives.

Action: New videos will be published with captions whenever possible. For older and archived moving image content, we will assess where accessible alternatives can be added.

Heading Structure and Editorial Content

On some pages, the heading structure may not yet be fully logical. This can make navigation with a keyboard and screen reader more difficult.

Action: The structure of the affected pages will be reviewed and gradually adjusted. When creating new content, we ensure a clear and hierarchically correct heading structure.

External Content and Applications

The website occasionally incorporates or links to content and applications from external providers. These may include, for example, videos, maps, social media content, newsletter forms, and external application and database systems. The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW has only limited influence over their accessible design.

We strive to ensure that external offerings are as accessible as possible when selecting and integrating them.

Content Involving a Disproportionate Burden

Certain older archival documents and extensive historical publications cannot currently be made fully accessible. Retrofitting all archived content to meet accessibility standards would entail a disproportionate burden given their volume.

The Film and Media Foundation NRW continuously reviews which documents remain relevant for the website’s use and should be made accessible as a priority.

Accessible Alternatives

If you need information from a non-accessible document or other inaccessible content, we will provide it to you in a suitable accessible format whenever possible.
