"Echo" by writer-director Mareike Wegener is a production of Cologne’s Petrolio Film with the participation of broadcaster WDR. The film tells the story of Chief Inspector Harder, who survived a bomb attack in Afghanistan as a police trainer and is now supposed to detemine the identity of a bog corpse as part of her reintergration in the tranquil village of Friedland. But the people of Friedland are occuped by other problems than Harder’s investigation, especially when an unexploded bomb from the Second World War is discovered in the moat of the local castle and heralds another explosion. Starring Valery Cheplanova, Ursula Werner, Andreas Döhler, Felix Römer and Oskar Keymer. Grandfilm will be releasing the film in German cinemas. The Filmstiftung NRW backed the production with 500,000 Euros. Additional support came from the Kuratorium junger deutscher Film, BKM and DFFF.
