The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW concentrates its funding on films for cinema and television as well as international co-productions. Funding is provided for all phases of production and exploitation: from screenplays through project development, pre-production and production, to distribution and sales.
Who can apply?
- Applications are accepted from producers.
- A German co-producer is required for international projects.
What are the conditions?
- At least 150 % of the funding support must be spent in North Rhine-Westphalia.
- The support must not exceed 50 % of the production costs
- The support is allocated as a conditionally repayable, interest-free loan.
- Recoupment from the film’s revenues to the Film- und Medienstifting NRW can be used for a new film project.
- Different regulations apply for TV projects and low-budget films.
How does it work?
- A consultation with the respective funding official should take place before submitting an application.
- The information and documents required for the application are set out in the application forms.
- There are five submission dates each year.
- The funding decisions are taken by a film funding commitee.
