The former funding activities of the Filmbüro NW e. V. have been transferred to the ¨Vereinfachte Förderung¨ category. The funding is focused on all kinds of low-budget projects: short films, documentaries, fiction films, experimental films and animation films.
Who can apply?
Applications are accepted from producers and filmmakers, distributors and broadcasters who have their headquarters in North Rhine-Westphalia.
In exceptional cases, applications for production funding from outside of North Rhine-Westphalia can be considered. A German co-producer is required for international projects.
What are the conditions?
Funding applications can be made respectively for screenwriting, pre-production, production, postproduction as well as distribution and sales.
Support will be granted to projects which do not have to have a commercial exploitation planned from the outset.
The film projects must be intended for screening in cinemas.
The support is awarded in the form of a grant.
How does it work?
The information and documents required for the application are set out in the application forms.
In the eventuality that an application is not selected for funding, the applicants can learn the reasons for the decision at a hearing with the funding committee.
A project can be submitted a maximum of two times for funding.
Independent committees meet three times a year for production funding, and on two occasions per year for distribution and sales support. These committees are reconstituted anew for each funding session with industry experts appointed on recommendation by the Filmbüro NW e.V.
Submission dates and all further documents can be found here.
