A joint fund was established to support the development of TV fiction series which are being made as German-French co-productions. The partners on the German side are the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, and MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg. On the French side, the Centre National du Cinéma (CNC) and the Region Grand-Est support this fund which is provided with a total annual budget of 200,000 Euros.
Who can apply?
At least one of the executive producers must be resident in France and one of them in Germany.
What are the conditions?
The maximum level of funding per project amounts to 50.000 Euros and may not exceed 80 % of the costs for preparation.
The support is granted as conditionally repayable loan.
The project must be of particular cultural and economic interest for France and for at least one of the federal states – Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, or North Rhine-Westphalia.
The participation of the co-producers from both countries should be close to equal representation
The loan should be repaid upon the realisation of the series or exploitation of the rights.
Tn Germany, the regulations of the respective funding institutions regarding the regional effect must be heeded.
The period of implementation lasts 18 months.
How does it work?
Coordination of the programme is jointly administered by the CNC on the French side and by the MFG Baden-Württemberg on the German side.
Decisions on the funding applications are taken by the CNC and the respective regional fund in Germany for whom the project is of particular cultural and economic interest, on the basis of a commission’s recommendation.
The commission convenes at least once a year.
The payment of the funding to producers based in France is the responsibility of the CNC, the payment to producers based in Germany is the responsibility of the respective regional fund and requires the conclusion of a corresponding funding contract.
