This is the first time that the story of "Laura’s Star" about friendship, care and trust has been told as a live-action film, interpreted by up-and-coming director Joya Thome and produced by Christian Becker and Maya Gräfin Rothkirch. After moving to the city, Laura misses her old home terribly. One night, she sees a little star falling from the sky. When she later finds it with a broken point, she comforts it and fixes it up with a plaster. Together, Laura and the star experience magical adventures that make even her wildest dreams come true – and with the help of the star, she finally starts to feel at home. The screenplay was reworked by the author Claudia Seibl, drawing on the screenplay for the 2004 animation feature film of the same name by Michael Mädel, Piet de Rycker, Thilo Graf Rothkirch and Alexander Lindner and the book series by Klaus Baumgart. "Laura’s Star" is a production by Rothkirch Cartoon-Film, Westside Filmproduktion and Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany in co-production with Animationsfabrik and had its premiere at Filmfest München in 2021. Filmstiftung NRW backed the project’s production and distribution with € 900,000. Additional support came from FFHSH, the FFA and DFFF. Warner Bros. released the film in German cinemas in 2021.
