Film und Medien Stiftung NRW"Love, Deutschmarks and Death"

The feature documentary "Love, Deutschmarks and Death" by Cem Kaya uses archive footage to tell the unprecedented story of the music of Turkish guest workers, their children and grandchildren in Germany. This independent and previously unknown musical culture, which is unique to Germany in this form, also has great significance as part of the cultural heritage of the (old) Federal Republic. The director wrote the script together with Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay for Cologne’s filmfaust in co-production with Film Five with the participation of broadcasters WDR/ Arte and rbb. The Filmstiftung NRW backed the film with 222,000 Euros. Additional support came from BKM, FFA and DFFF. The documentary will be released theatrically by Rapid Eyes Movies.
