Nadine is a factory worker. When she begins to perceive her colleague Paul in various guises, she discovers her great love for him. But, years later, her love for him dissolves and she starts to question her own gaze. Mannequins (working title), set against the industrial backdrop of Europe’s largest brown coal mining area, is a romantic social drama about the initial magic of falling in love and the painful process of falling out of love. Aenne Schwarz was cast in the lead role opposite Carlo Ljubek, Youness Aabbaz, Sara Fazilat, Naila Schuberth, Moritz Klaus and Dagmar Sachse. “Mannequins” (working title) is a production of Network Movie and Contando Films with ZDF – Das kleine Fernsehspiel as a TV partner. The film was shot entirely in Cologne and surroundings over the course of 25 days. The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW backed the production with 400,000 Euros, with additional support coming from the BKM, DFFF, and FFA. Port au Prince will handle the theatrical release in Germany.
