¨24h Jerusalem¨: television and web event on 12 April

¨24h Jerusalem¨ documents a day in the life of Jerusalem. Based on the model of ¨24h Berlin¨, the film saw around 70 camera teams accompanying around 90 protagonists in the Israeli capital. ARTE and Bayerischer Rundfunk are broadcasting the production of zero one 24 from 12 April (6 a.m.) to 13 April (6 a.m.). An interactive second screen channel which, like the film production, was also supported by the Filmstiftung NRW, among others, is accompanying the 24-hour television project in the runup as well as parallel to the airing.

Directors such as Corinna Belz, Dani Levy, Hans-Christian Schmid, Luzia Schmid, Maria Schrader, Andres Veiel and Dominik Wessely as well as cinematographers from Sophie Maintigneux through Benedikt Neuenfels to Hajo Schomerus worked under the overall supervision of Volker Heise with Israeli, Palestinian and European crews.

Parallel to the film’s airing, 24hjerusalem.tv is simultaneously giving further impressions of the city’s people, places and stories. Apart from the film’s live streaming, there will also be live chats with the protagonists and experts as well as spontaneously filmed smartphone clips on the subject. All of the content including the 24-hour film will remain available on the web for two months.

Threatened by two boycott attempts, the production of ¨24h Jerusalem¨ was realised by zero one 24 in co-production with Alegria Productions (France), Bayerischer Rundfunk and ARTE. The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW supported the interactive second screen concept with € 30,000 as part of its funding programme to develop innovative audiovisual content, and the film’s actual production received an additional € 150,000. Further support came from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and FilmFernsehFonds Bayern. The film will be broadcast in Germany (BR, ARTE), France, Finland and Norway from 12 April (6 a.m.) to 13 April (6 a.m.).
