79th Venice Intenational Film Festival with Filmstiftung-backed production „The Sitting Duck“

The Venice International Film Festival has just announced that the Filmstiftung-backed „The Sitting Duck“ by Jean-Paul Salomé has been invited to screen in the Orizzonti sidebar. Cologne-based Heimatfilm produced the film with France’s Le Bureau Films.The film stars  Isabelle Huppert with. Pierre Deladanchamps, Gregory Gadebois, Marina Foïs, Yvan Attal, François-Xavier Demaison and Alexandra Maria Lara among the other members of the cast. The screenplay was written by Salomé together with Fadette Drouard, based on the book „La Syndicaliste“ by Caroline Michel-Aguirre. Inspired by true events, the film tells the story of the trade unionist Maureen Kearney who was the victim of a savage attack and a subsequent smear campaign when she sought to expose the machinations of the French nuclear industry. The film was also shot at locations in NRW. The 79th Venice International Film Festival is held from 31 August – 10 September, 2022.
