Cannes Beach Soirèe 2025
Düsseldorf/Cologne/Berlin – For the first time, the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the Production Alliance jointly organised an official reception at the renowned Festival de Cannes. The event on 16 May brought together internationally networked filmmakers, producers, industry leaders and political decision-makers to present NRW as a film and media location and the German film industry internationally. Exchange and networking discussions also focussed on new international cooperation opportunities. The 300 guests were welcomed by Walid Nakschbandi (Film- und Medienstiftung NRW), Wiebke Wiesner (German Producers Alliance, acting managing director and legal advisor) and Dr. Mark Speich (State Secretary for Federal and European Affairs, International Affairs and Media of the State of NRW and Plenipotentiary of the State of NRW to the Federal Government).
North Rhine-Westphalia is a central film and production location in Germany and an attractive partner for international film productions. The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW is one of the most active regional film funding organisations in Europe, while the state of North Rhine-Westphalia strengthens the creative industry with targeted funding measures. The German Producers Alliance also pools and represents the interests of German producers, campaigns for Germany as a film location and promotes international exchange.
The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW is also a partner and responsible organiser of the German Pavilion in Cannes, the meeting point for the German film industry at the Marché du Film, the world’s largest film market.
