The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in New York has just announced the nominations for the International Emmy Awards. The only nomination for a German format went to "LOL: Last One Laughing", produced by Constantin Entertainment for Amazon Prime, in the Non-Scripted Entertainment category. A total of 60 entries from 23 countries were selected in 15 categories. The ceremony for the 50th International Emmy Awards will be held in New York on 21 November.

"Congratulations to Bully and the team of 'LOL' on their nomination for the International Emmy! A well-deserved recognition for all those involved, for comedy ‘made in Germany’ and for the comedy stars from NRW appearing in the show," says Petra Müller, CEO of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. "We are keeping our fingers crossed for the award ceremony and looking forward to raw comedy power in New York!"

About the format

"LOL: Last One Laughing" sees Michael "Bully" Herbig presenting the first German comedy game show and challenging 10 top stars from the world of German comedy in the competition to end all competitions to find out who’s the last one laughing! Those taking part include such NRW comedy greats as Anke Engelke and Carolin Kebekus.

The partnership between NRW and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has now existed for the past 14 years. The Filmstiftung, the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the State Media Authority (LfM) present NRW as a film and series hub each year in New York. In addition, the iEmmy ambassador Leopold Hoesch organises the International Emmy Semi-Final Judgings in Cologne in the summer.

The internationalisation of TV production has further bolstered the International Emmy Awards’ position as the leading competition and networking platform for TV professionals from all over the world. This year will see the Awards celebrating their 50th anniversary.
