German-French funding programme in Cannes

New bilateral funding programme: the German-French agreement for the joint development of TV fiction series was signed at the Plage du Gray d’Albion during the 68th Festival du Film de Cannes. The aim of the fund is to develop TV fiction series which are made as German-French co-productions.
The partners on the German side are FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Film-und Medienstiftung NRW, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and MFG Medien-und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg. The French side will see the Centre national du cinéma (CNC) supporting the fund which has a total of 200,000 Euros at its disposal. The maximumlevel of funding is set at 50,000 Euros per project. The new funding programme’s first call for projects is due to be held in summer 2015. After the submission deadline planned for autumn 2015, the decisions should be taken before the end of the year.
The agreement was signed in Cannes by Prof. Klaus Schaefer (CEO, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern), Petra Müller (CEO, Film-und Medienstiftung NRW), Prof. Kirsten Niehuus (CEO, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg), Prof. Carl Bergengruen (CEO, MFG Medien-und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg) and Frédérique Bredin (President, Centre national du cinéma).
