International Exchange at the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival
Once again this year, the exchange of experiences regarding international co-productions is on the agenda of the industry program at the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival (January 19–25, 2026, Saarbrücken).
Two experienced producers from North Rhine-Westphalia will offer insights into their day-to-day production work:
On January 22, Yvonne McWellie (Weydemann Bros., Cologne) will speak at the “MOP Meetings”—a gathering of emerging European producers—about two international co-productions and offer helpful tips on applying for MEDIA development grants. The focus will be on the funded dramas “Milchzähne” (DE, CH) and “Falling Into Place” (DE, UK). The latter was also supported by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. Heike Meyer-Döring, head of the Creative Europe Desk NRW, will moderate the session.
The “Silver Linings” panel discussion on January 23 (11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.) will also feature an open exchange on international co-productions. Bettina Brokemper (Heimatfilm, Cologne) and Frieder Schlaich (Filmgalerie 451, Berlin) will discuss their experiences in dealing with risks and the failure of film projects. Virginia Martin (Contando Films, Berlin) will moderate .
Participation in “Silver Linings” is open to all accredited attendees. Tickets available starting January 22 at tickets.ffmop.de.
The Creative Europe Desk NRW is a partner of both events.
