International Film Distribution Summit: Innovative ideas and productive exchange for future-orientated film distribution work – Open for accreditation now!
The unique international film industry conference "International Film Distribution Summit" (IFDS) will now take place for the third time. IFSD offers an international platform that deals with innovative distribution work in a changing public sphere. This year’s IFDS will take place in Cologne from 15th to 17th of October 2024, with warm-up panels on 15th of October 2024, and is funded by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the German Federal Film Board (Filmförderungsanstalt, FFA), the Creative Europe MEDIA programme of the European Union and the City of Cologne.
The IFDS is also supported by the industry event 7th "European Work in Progress Cologne" (EWIP), which will take place in Cologne from 14th to 16th of October 2024. Accreditation for the IFDS will also enable participation for EWIP.
Inspiration, motivation and an extraordinarily productive exchange: since its beginning, the IFDS was received with great interest and convinced many colleagues from the worldwide film industry. It has created an international platform for dialogue and exchange that has not yet existed in this form and with the explicit focus on theatrical film distribution. The IFDS is a discussion and networking event designed specifically for all concerns of present day theatrical distribution. It attempts to get to the bottom of the causes of the massive upheavals within the global culture industry. Within the framework of numerous lectures, panels, master classes and informal discussions, concrete perspectives as well as new visions will be developed on how theatrical distribution can make an economically and politically meaningful contribution to the preservation of a democratic cultural landscape.
Representatives of some of the most important European and international distribution companies, world sales and PR-agencies have developed a trend-setting platform over the last two years, which has been particularly convincing due to its practical relevance. The IFDS differs from other industry events in its approach of practice-oriented exchange, as it explicitly addresses colleagues from hands-on and everyday distribution work.
In 2024, the highlight of the IFDS will once again be the presentation of the Best International Innovation Distribution Award, which recognises the pioneering innovative strength of successful distributors. The Best International Innovation Distribution Award is endowed with 10,000 euros and is sponsored by Gruvi, Usheru and Comscore. The winners of the last edition in 2022 were Elissa Federoff from US distributor NEON and Enrique Costa, founder and CEO of ELASTICA FILMS, Spain. This year’s winner is yet to be announced.
Accreditation for the IFDS is possible until 7th of October 2024 and is reserved for colleagues who are actively involved in the film industry.
The accreditation also allows access to the industry event "European Work in Progress Cologne 2024" (EWIP, 14th – 16th of October) and the film screenings of the Film Festival Cologne depending on availability of seats, or tickets. The pass is non-transferable. The accreditation fee is 65 euros. Accreditation is possible via the following link: https://www.international-distribution-summit.com.
