"Louis van Beethoven" sold throughout Europe, the U.S. and Latin America

The Filmstiftungs-backed drama "Louis van Beethoven" has been sold to 35 territories. Beta Film sold the biographical movie celebrating Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday to Italy (Sky), Spain (Filmin), Portugal (RTP), Lithuania (LRT), Hungary (MTVA), Croatia (HRT), Czech Republic (CT) and Russia (Kultura). Film Movement has picked up the movie for the U.S. and Canada, MVS for Argentina, Chile, Mexico and numerous Latin American territories.

The elaborate “coming-of-genius”- drama Louis van Beethoven directed by Niki Stein with Tobias Moretti in the lead role, follows Beethoven’s tragic life tracing his progress from an early piano virtuoso to the admired composer. Inspired and guided by the unconventional brilliance of Mozart and the French Revolution, he embodies the emancipation of the artist in the 18th century like no one else. Beethoven sacrificed his life and, above all, his hearing for the arts and became a master who touches countless hearts and minds to this day.

Louis van Beethoven is produced by Eikon Media for ARD Degeto/WDR/ORF and will air on Christmas Day, 25 December at prime time on Germany’s public broadcaster ARD. The movie is now available in the online library of ARD.
