New US film distributor sells "Cahier Africain"

The newly founded film distributor Juno Films will sell the award-winning documentary "Cahier Africain" by director Heidi Specogna on the North American market. The Cologne-based Rushlake Media licensed the documentary, and cooperates with Juno Films (founded by Elizabeth Sheldon) to bring selected projects to the market worldwide.

The movie:
Filmed over seven years, the filmmaker captures the testimonies of 300 Central African women, girls and men revealing what Congolese mercenaries did to them in the wake of the last armed conflict in 2008. "Cahier Africain" is a production of PS Film (CH) in co-production with Filmpunkt (D) under participation of ZDF and 3sat. "Cahier Africain" was awarded the German National Film Award (Lola) for Best Documentary and the Swiss National Film Award for Best Documentary.

The Film- und Medienstiftung supported the project with 75,000 euros, further sponsors were FFA, BAK (CH), Zurich Film Foundation and Amnesty International.
