NRW at the International Emmy World TV Festival and the International Emmy Awards

  • NRW in New York with a delegation of producers and TV executives
  • NRW-USA Year: Media Minister Nathanael Liminski also in New York
  • iEmmy partnership with the Federal State of NRW, Film- und Medienstiftung, Landesanstalt für Medien

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will be presenting the International Emmy Awards to the world’s best TV programmes for the 51st time. The International Emmy World Television Festival will be held in New York from 18 to 19 November upstream of the awards ceremony. The international TV industry will be meeting during the festival to network and discuss the latest developments and formats, with the nominees appearing on panels. Academy President Bruce Paisner is expecting more than 600 festival-goers and over 1,000 guests at the awards ceremony in New York on Monday evening, 20 November.

As Germany’s leading TV hub, NRW will again be in New York with a delegation of TV professionals. The NRW presentation is organised by the Federal State of NRW, represented by Nathanael Liminski, Minister for Federal, European and International Affairs and the Media of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Head of the State Chancellery, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the Landesanstalt für Medien NRW. This year’s delegation includes the NRW producers Leopold Hoesch (Broadview TV), Sabine de Mardt (Gaumont), Jens Wolf (MMC Movies Köln), as well as TV executives Inga Leschek and OIiver Schablitzki (both from RTL Deutschland). The actor Oliver Masucci ("Herrhausen – Lord of the Money", "Enfant Terrible", "Dark") and actress Jeanne Goursaud ("Dear Child", "Barbarians", "Wishlist") will play a prominent role in promoting the film and TV hub. They will both be appearing as presenters during the awards ceremony on Monday (Live-Stream www.iemmys.tv).

The partnership between NRW and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has existed for 15 years. The German Ambassador of the International Emmys, Leopold Hoesch, organises the Emmy Semi-Final Judgings at Arff Castle each summer apart from the annual delegation coming to New York.

 The NRW-USA Year 2023/2024

The USA and the Federal State of NRW share a history of around 340 years, which is shaped today by distinctive cooperative ventures in the areas of diplomacy, business and education. The state government of NRW has taken the NRW-USA Year as an occasion to honour, strengthen and celebrate the close ties. Numerous events have been organised to showcase the transatlantic partnership since June 2023, bringing diplomatic, economic and cultural relations to life. In order to further deepen cultural relations, NRW’s Media Minister Nathanael Liminski will be coming to this year’s International Emmys as an official representative of the federal state. He is accompanied by US Consul General for NRW in Düsseldorf Pauline Kao, among others.

TV and series funding at the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW

Since being founded, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW has supported the production of TV fiction events as well as the development and production of high-end series for more than 10 years. In May 2022, the Filmstiftung launched its new pilot programme for "Innovative Serial Formats" as part of its production funding activities. The Filmstiftung promotes NRW as a TV hub at the international TV trade fairs of MIPTV and MIPCOM and has been the main partner of the Berlinale Series Market since 2015.
