On the occasion of the 64th Berlinale, the film region of North Rhine-Westphalia hosted a reception for the 13th time for more than 1,000 guests from the worlds of film, media, politics and business in its Permanent Representation in Berlin. The hosts, NRW Media Minister Angelica Schwall-Düren on behalf of Prime-Minister Hannelore Kraft and Filmstiftung CEO Petra Müller, were delighted to see 29 NRW-backed films screening in the official sections of the Berlinale. The teams and stars of the festival films were the main focus of the evening.

I am especially pleased that young film-makers from NRW are again represented at the Berlinale. This shows that NRW is not only the home of established and successful  production companies, but the up-and-coming generation is also very interesting."

„NRW is showing a strong presence this year with 29 films in the Berlinale’s festival sections. International co-productions, German arthouse, documentaries and, above all, the young cinema from NRW show the creative diversity and international performance of the region’s film-makers", said Filmstiftung CEO, Petra Müller. „We are very pleased that so many film teams and producers, who made their films with backing from NRW, are able to show their films here. We are looking forward to the festival and congratulate Dieter Kosslick on the Berlinale’s programme for 2014!"

As in previous years, the ten European  Shooting Stars 2014 were also guests at the NRW reception. The young actors and actresses were selected by European Film Promotion for the  Berlinale. Germany is represented this year by the actress  Maria Dragus („The White Ribbon", „Kill Me") .
