Saskia Rosendahl receives the Leopard for Best Actress in the Filmstiftung-backed drama "No One’s With The Calves" in Locarno

Saskia Rosendahl  was recognised at the  74th Locarno Film Festival for her role in the Cologne-based Weydemann Bros. production "No One’s With The Calves" by director and KHM graduate Sabrina Sarabi. She received the "Leopard for Best Actress" in the "Filmmakers of the Present" section. This has only just been announced by the festival.

The new festival director Giona A. Nazzaro had invited a total of six Filmstiftung-backed productions to the festival: Apart from  "No One’s with The Calves,"  the Swiss-German co-production "Monte Verità" screened on the Piazza Grande and has hopes of taking home the Audience Award.

"We are delighted for  Saskia Rosendahl and the entire film team of 'No One’s with The Calves', and especially for  the director Sabrina Sarabi and the Weydemann Bros!", says Petra Müller, CEO of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. "We are now keeping our fingers crossed for "Monte Verità" and congratulate the filmmakers from NRW on their works. But congratulations also go to the new festival director Giona A. Nazzaro for his first edition!"

Saskia Rosendahl can currently be seen in the cinemas in "Fabian – Going To The Dogs".  Rosendahl previously appeared in such films as the  2018 film  "Never Look Away" by Florian Henkel von Donnersmarck, which had its world premiere in competition in Venice and made it to an Oscar nomination. She also appeared in the award-winning and Filmstiftung-backed productions "Lindenberg! Mach Dein Ding" or "Babylon Berlin."

A total of six Filmstiftung-backed productions were invited to the festival this year: apart from today’s prize-winner  "No One’s with The Calves" by Sabrina Sarabi, the list includes the Piazza Grande title "Monte Verità", a candidate  in the running for the Audience Award which won’t be known until Sunday 15 August, and the short film "The Night" by Ahmad Saleh in the Leopards of Tomorrow International Competition. The international co-productions "Taming the Garden" by Salomé Jashi and "The New Gospel" by Milo Rau were shown in "Panorama Suisse". The new "Locarno Kids" section featured "Too Far Away" by Sarah Winkenstette.
