Nine fms-backed productions at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival

The Tallinn Black NIghts Film Festival (Pimedate Ööde filmifestival, PÖFF) will be holding its 27th edition from 3 to 19 November, 2023. The programme includes 41 German productions and co-productions, ten of which have been backed by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.

Falling Into Place” (Weydemann Bros.) can be seen in the First Feature Competition. Aylin Tezel’s directorial debut centres on Kira and Ian, both in their mid-30s, who get to know one another spontaneously one winter weekend and experience a surprisingly deep connection.

The Official Selection will be showing “The Man From Rome” by Jaap van Heusden (Fiction Park), while the “Best of Festivals” sidebar is screening four films: “Fallen Leaves” by Aki Kaurismäki (Pandora Film), “Touched” by Claudia Rorarius (2Pilot Filmproduktion), “Ingeborg Bachmann – Journey Into the Desert” by Margarethe von Trotta (Heimatfilm), and “Kidnapped” by Marco Bellochio (Match Factory Productions).

In addition, “Dear Thomas” by Andreas Kleinert (Zeitsprung Pictures) will be shown in “Special Screenings”, while “Tiger Stripes” by Amanda Nell Eu (Weydemann Bros. Filmproduktion) and “Weekend Rebels” by Marc Rothemund (Wiedemann & Berg Film are screening in the JUST –  Children’s Competition Programme.

Along with the festivals in Cannes, Karlovy Vary, San Sebastian, Locarno, Venice and Berlin, the Tallinn Black NIghts Film Festival (Pimedate Ööde filmifestival, PÖFF) is one of the 15 film events accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).

The aim of the festival is to present a comprehensive selection of world cinema from the last two years to a local and international audience, offering fresh film production with high artistic value.
