Three Awards for “Staatsschutz”—Another Success for “Narciso” at the Berlinale
Great celebration at the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW: The feature film *Staatsschutz* by Faraz Shariat, funded by the FMS, received three awards from independent juries at the Berlinale (Berlin International Film Festival).
“Staatsschutz” received the Heiner Carow Prize, the CICAE ART Cinema Award in the Panorama category, and the 28th Panorama Audience Award.
Each year, the festival presents the Panorama Audience Award to the most popular film in the Panorama section—a strong indication of the film’s tremendous resonance with audiences. The CICAE ART Cinema Award is presented by the international arthouse cinema community and supports the worldwide theatrical release of the winning film. The Heiner Carow Prize honors works that demonstrate a particularly humanistic approach and distinctive artistic style.
Another FMS-funded production was also honored in the Panorama section: *Narciso* won the FIPRESCI Jury Prize (International Federation of Film Critics). The award underscores the film’s special international recognition among film critics.
The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW warmly congratulates the teams behind both films on these outstanding achievements at one of the most important international film festivals.
And now it’s time to keep our fingers crossed for the Bear Awards ceremony tonight!
