ZDF Director General Thomas Bellut to receive the International Emmy’s 2021 Directorate Award

ZDF’s Director General Thomas Bellut will receive the International Emmy’s 2021 Directorate Award. The Special Emmy of the International Academy will be presented to Bellut at the 49th awards gala in New York City on 22 November, 2021. The award is presented to organisations or individuals for their outstanding contributions to international television over a period of time. In 2013, Anke Schäferkordt, the then CEO of the RTL Group, Mediengruppe RTL and RTL, was the recipient.

The presentation of the award to Thomas Bellut had originally been planned for the 2020 International Emmy Awards ceremony, in recognition of his outstanding leadership of ZDF and in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the reunification of Germany, to which ZDF contributed with intensive coverage. It was postponed to 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. In 2021, ZDF will mark its 60th anniversary.

The presentation of the iEmmys was held online on 23 November after the Emmy World Television Festival. NRW again served as a festival partner with the federal state of NRW collaborating with the Landesanstalt für Medien and Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. Actress Caroline Peters appeared for NRW as a presenter at the International Emmy Awards.
