¨The Physician¨ celebrates world premiere

On 16 December¨The Physician¨, the adaptation of Noah Gordon's bestseller, will celebrate its premiere in the newly-opened Zoo-Palast cinema in Berlin. On the Red Carpet: Director Philipp Stölzl, Noah Gordon and his lead actors Tom Payne, Emma Rigby, Stellan Skarsgard and Elyas M'Barek as well as NRW's prime-minister Hannelore Kraft.

Rotterdam: Jan Schomburg’s „Vergiss mein Ich“ in competition

Jan Schomburg's second feature film „Vergiss mein Ich“, which was shot completely in North Rhine-Westphalia over 33 days, will celebrate its world premiere at the 43rd International Film Festival Rotterdam. The renowned competition for the sought-after Tiger Award concentrates on the first and second films by international directors.

Great Performance! Two International Emmys go from New York to Cologne

On the occasion oft he 41st International Emmy Awards on Monday evening in New York, Cologne-based TV-producer were awarded with an International Emmy in the category “TV Movie“ for „A Day for a Miracle“ (ZDF). Anke Schäferkordt (RTL) was presented with the International Emmy Directorate Award by Wladimir Klitschko.

NRW at the International Emmys 2013

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is presenting the International Emmys to the world's best TV programmes in the coming week. This year will again see more than 700 TV experts from 50 nations expected to attend the festival and the awards ceremony in New York. Also NRW sends a delegation of TV professionals.

Two NRW-funded films nominated for the European Film Awards 2013

The European Film Academy announced the nominations for the European Film Awards 2013 Two NRW-funded films are among the candidates: Barbara Sukowa is in the race for the European Actress award with her role as „Hannah Arendt“. Ari Folman's „The Congress“ is a candidate for the award as European Animation Film.

German MIP Cocktail

On the occasion of the MIPCOM, the German MIP Cocktail will be held on Monday, 7 October. Filmstiftung NRW and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg are joint hosts for the 6th time this year with Berlin Partner, ZukunftsAgentur Brandenburg, Entertainment Master Class, Hamburg@work, MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg and German Films.

Premiere on Saturday in Cologne: „Rush“

Ron Howard's racing drama „Rush“ will celebrate its German premiere in Cologne tomorrow evening. The director is expected to be joined on the red carpet by the lead actors Daniel Brühl, Chris Hemsworth and Alexandra Maria Lara as well as screenwriter Peter Morgan and the racing legend Niki Lauda. National theatrical release on Thursday, 3 October

Germany sends „Two Lives“ into the Oscar race

An independent jury appointed by German Films decided on Tuesday to send „Two Lives“ by Georg Maas into the race for the Best Foreign Language Film. German Films will submit the film to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for consideration for a nomination.

Nine NRW-funded films in Toronto

he Toronto International Film Festival is regarded as be one of the largest film festivals in North America. Nine NRW-funded films received an invitation to its 38th edition: Ron Howard's „Rush“ and Erik Skjoldbjærg's „Pioneer“ can be seen as Gala Presentations in Canada, another seven prodcutions will be screened in various sections.

ITVS impact PIXEL MARKET 2013 prize announced

The ITVS is offering a brand new prize at this year's Pixel Market for the best project making a social impact. Projects can be fiction or non-fiction, with the winner of the ITVS Impact Pixel Market Prize being awarded $4,500 in development funding with the U.S. public service broadcaster. Deadline extended to Thursday, 1 August.
