„The Bridges of Sarajevo“ as Séance Spéciale in Cannes

As the Festival de Cannes announced today, the film project „The Bridges of Sarajevo“ has been invited as a Special Screening. The international co-production, produced on the German side by Cologne's unafilm, was supported by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. The project received funding totalling 100,000 €.

¨24h Jerusalem¨: television and web event on 12 April

¨24h Jerusalem¨ documents a day in the life of Jerusalem. Based on the model of ¨24h Berlin¨, the film saw around 70 camera teams accompanying around 90 protagonists in the Israeli capital. An interactive second screen channel (24hjerusalem.tv) accompanies the 24-hour television project in the runup as well as parallel to the airing.

International Women’s Film Festival in Cologne

The Cologne edition of the IFFF will open on 8 April with the Mexican participant in the International Debut Fiction Feature Film Competition, „The Amazing Catfish“, directed by Claudia Sainte-Luce. Unique throughout Germany, the internationally renowned festival dedicates itself to work by women in all stages of film production.

„German Pavilion“ at the 67th Cannes International Film Festival

German Films and FOCUS Germany join forces for the 14th time to showcase their activities in the „German Pavilion“ at the 67th Cannes Film Festival. The „German Pavilion“ in the International Village of the Marché du Film is a popular platform to foster an exchange between the festival delegates from the German and international film industries.

Mediencluster presents NRW as a digital hub in Texas and San Francisco

The SXSW Interactive, one of the world's most important trade fairs for the transmedia content industry in Austin, Texas (7 - 12 March, 2014) will this year again see 25 companies from North Rhine-Westphalia travelling in a delegation to exchange experiences. The Game Developers Conference will be held a few days later in San Francisco.

Wim Wenders Grant launched by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW

The Wim Wenders Grant is being launched for the first time by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW in collaboration with the Wim Wenders Foundation which was established in 2012. The goal is to support young film-makers for them to tell stories with new means and enrich the visual language.

NRW with 29 films at the 2014 Berlinale

On the occasion of the 64th Berlinale, the film region of North Rhine-Westphalia hosted a reception for the 13th time for more than 1,000 guests from the worlds of film, media and politics in its Permanent Representation in Berlin. Angelica Schwall-Düren and Petra Müller, were delighted to see 29 NRW-backed films screening in the official sections of the Berlinale.

Film- und Medienstiftung NRW – Review and Outlook for the New Year

On the occasion of the press conference by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW on 22 January, CEO Petra Müller looked back on 2013: it was a successful year for the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the region and its companies. The new fields of activity are in place, the media cluster is integrated, and innovative funding instruments have been introduced.
