The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, Germany's largest regional fund, is turning 25. On 27 Februar 1991, the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia and WDR founded the Filmstiftung in Düsseldorf.
A successful beginning for the second edition of the „Drama Series Days“ at the „European Film Market“ (EFM) as part of the 66th Berlinale: the focus was on „Commissioning Strategies“ in the Spiegelzelt.
2015 saw the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW operating now in its fifth year as a funder and location agency for the film and media region of NRW. It supported a total of 406 projects with around 33.6 million Euros and thus continues to be the financially most powerful German regional fund despite budget cuts.

„Mustang“, the Filmstiftung-backed debut by the Turkish director Deniz Gamze Ergüven, has been nominated for the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
A successful model returns: after the successful launch last February, the „Drama Series Days“ are being held again at the forthcoming European Film Market during the Berlin International Film Festival (11-21 February, 2016).
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will be awarding the 43rd International Emmys to the world's best TV programmes during the Emmy World Television Festival in the coming week. As the leading German TV hub, NRW has had a presence at the TV festival since 2009.
Five NRW-funded films have been submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the Best Foreign Language Feature Film category:„Mustang“, „Babai“ ,„Iraqi Odyssey“ , „A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence" and „Modris".
