The new film by María Alché and Benjamin Naishtat (screenplay and direction) centres on the lecturer Marcelo at the Philosophy Faculty of Buenos Aires University, known as “Púan”. Marcelo sees his life suddenly turned upside down by the death of his mentor Professor Caselli. He had been expecting to inherit Caselli’s post as head of the faculty when he is then faced by a challenge from the charismatic candidate Rafael Sujarchuk who had just returned from a top position at a university in Europe. Marcelo’s clumsy efforts to prove that he is the right candidate trigger a hilarious philosophical duel, while his life – and Argentina – enters a spiral of chaos. The international production was made with participation from Cologne’s Pandora Filmproduktion in co-production with Pasto Cine (ARG) and Pucará Cine (ARG), Kino Produzioni (IT), L’Atelier de Production (FR), Bubbles Project (BRA). Luxbox is handling world sales. The Filmstiftung supported the film’s production with 55,000 Euros from the “Vereinfachte Förderung” programme.
