Steffi Niederzoll's documentary "Seven Winters in Tehran" tells the story of Reyhaneh Jabbarri. The 19-year-old defends herself against her rapist, stabs him and then ends up on Iranian death row for murder. "Seven Winters in Tehran" uses secretly shot video footage to show how her family was fighting for the life of the young woman who became a heroine in Iran – because she would rather die than save her life by telling a lie. The film thus simultaneously offers a portrait of the reality of women’s lives in Iran. "Seven Winters in Tehran" is a production of Made in Germany Filmproduktion in co-production with Gloria Films (Paris) and TS Productions (CH) with the participation of broadcaster  WDR. Cercamon is handling world sales. The Filmstiftung backed the production with a total of 150,000 Euros, with additional funding coming from BKM, FFA and Eurimages.
