Growing up on the grounds of the largest psychiatric hospital in Schleswig-Holstein is somehow – different. For Joachim, the youngest son of director Meyerhoff (Devid Striesow), the patients are like family. They are also much nicer to him than his two older brothers, who drive him into fits of rage. His mother (Laura Tonke), painting watercolours, longs for Italian summer nights instead of constant north German rain, while his father secretly, but not discreetly enough, goes his own way. However, while Joachim slowly grows up, his world gets more and more cracks – and not only because of the loss of his first love… Insanely funny and deeply moving, this adaptation of the bestselling author Joachim Meyerhoff’s autobiographical novel deals with how hard it is to be a family. Starring Laura Tonke, Devid Striesow and Arsseni Bultmann, among others. Sonja Heiss directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Lars Hubrich. "When Will It Be Again Like It Never Was Before" is a production of Komplizen Film and Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany in co-production with Frakas Productions (BE). The film was backed by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW with 300,000 Euros as well as by MBB, MOIN, DFFF, BKM and FFA. Warner Bros. will release the film in German cinemas on 23 February, 2023. Beta Cinema is handling world sales.
