Together with its long-standing partners, the Film – und Medienstiftung supports such activities as the following initiatives to strengthen the networking and cooperation of the players:
Matchmaking: The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW has developed three series of events in recent years under the heading of “Film meets…”. “Film meets Literature” was staged in 2014 in close cooperation with Lit.Cologne to enable creatives from cinema and literature to meet over three evenings in order to discuss aspects of collaboration and present films made together. Under the heading of “Film meets Advertising”, the Film -und Medienstiftung NRW cooperates closely with the Directors Lounge/BBDO which provides directors with a platform to present their works and get to know filmmakers and newcomers. The 50th Directors Lounge in 2015 included guest of honour Wim Wenders presenting his commercials for the first time. In 2016, two documentaries and artist portraits were presented for the first time as part of the Art.Cologne under the heading of „Film meets Art“.
Gametreff NRW: The Gametreff NRW is a new networking event for the games sector, which has been developed by the Mediencluster NRW with the NRW games developer meeting organised by Z-Software and in cooperation with the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. The Gametreff NRW is held three to four times a year in order to bring the local industry closer together and provide networking opportunities for designers, programmers, developers, publishers, CEOs and start-ups.
Moving Image Stammtisch: Launched at the end of 2013 the Moving Image Stammtisch brings practitioners together from all areas of moving image production three to four times a year. It doesn’t matter whether they are from the classic TV industry the advertising industry or from YouTube. After one or two short presentations and discussions about a topical subject, the event then focuses on networking in a relaxed atmosphere. The Moving Image Stammtisch is a joint event by the Mediencluster NRW and the European Web Video Academy in cooperation with the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.
International Emmy Awards: The International Emmy Awards in New York are one of the most important international television awards. Awards are annually presented to the best TV programmes produced outside of the USA. The awards ceremony during the prestigious Emmy Awards is also regarded as one of the most important global industry gatherings. Supported by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the federal state of NRW and the Landesanstalt für Medien, a NRW delegation regularly visits the award ceremony, with the collaboration between leading German TV producers and their international colleagues being cultivated through presentations and industry get-togethers like the “NRW Lunch”. The International Emmy World Television Festival is 2016 held from November., 19-20. This is followed on November, 21 by the International Emmy Awards.
