In order to make its location’s profile more distinctive, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW has established diverse events and showcases in various forms during the summer and autumn to raise the visibility and promote cinema and industry activities in NRW.
Prestigious events bring the media industry to NRW from June to August, and Cologne is once more the media capital of the republic. National and international experts of the media and entertainment industries meet at conferences, award ceremonies and trade fairs on the Rhine: the Media Summer opens with the NRW Media Forum discussing the challenges for the information society. The RTL Reception, the industry get-together of the Film- und Medienstiftung and the German Web Video Award are regular highlights in a strong week for media during the ANGA COM. This is followed by the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum, the iEmmy Semi Final Judgings, the German Camera Award, and the FilmSchauPlätze NRW.
In November, everything revolves around film in North Rhine-Westphalia: After the Film and Cinema Conference NRW, the awarding of the Cinema Programming Award NRW and the Herbert Strate Award, selected festivals, film series, conferences and award ceremonies offer trade visitors and film fans alike a varied programme.

From a pheasantry to an open-air pool, from a monastery to an artists‘ colliery, from the riding stables to the town hall square: each year in the summer holidays, the FilmSchauPlätze NRW invite visitors on an extraordinary cineastic voyage of discovery. The mobile screen is installed in the open air at a selected location for one evening, and a film fitting the location is then shown. A programme organised by local partners creates the right atmosphere for the film programme which begins with a short film from NRW each evening.
