The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW has been awarding the Gerd Ruge Grant since 2002. The grant is endowed with up to 100,000 Euros, enabling documentary filmmakers an opportunity to develop their projects for the cinema.
Who can apply?
Applications are accepted from authors and directors with their first place of residence in Germany, and especially from NRW.
What are the funding conditions?
Grants are only awarded for the development of high-quality feature documentaries.
A documentary treatment and a budget must be submitted with the application.
The funding is in the form of a grant.
How does it work?
A consultation with the responsible funding official must be held before submitting an application.

There is one call for projects each year.
The funding decisions are taken by a jury chaired by Gerd Ruge.
