The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW promotes professionalisation and networking through its involvement in numerous conference and workshop events in North Rhine-Westphalia. The annual highlights include the working conference Radio Drama Forum NRW as well as the Film and Cinema Conference NRW.
The Film and Cinema Conference has been offering a platform to distribution and production professionals to exchange views about new trends since 2010. The conference is held each autumn in association with the awards ceremony for the NRW Cinema Programming Prize and the Herbert Strate Award.

The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW is the official partner of the Drama Series Days at the European Film Market (EFM) during the Berlinale. Launched in 2015, the platform for high-end series is a joint initiative of the EFM, the Berlinale Co-Production Market and Berlinale Talents and will be held at the Zoo Palast. All the conferences and programmes about series have been brought together under one roof. This also includes the programme of the Berlinale Series where gala premieres of new series are being presented from around the world.

Lectures, interviews and discussion events at the NRW Docu Day focus on distribution, target groups, documentaries in the cinemas, at festivals, on television as well as digital platforms. The organiser is the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW in cooperation with the Filmbüro NW and the German Film Academy. Partners: AG DOK, Creative Europe Desk NRW, dfi im Filmbüro NW, Documentary Campus, Film- und Medienverband NRW, ifs international film school cologne, and KHM.

Backing radio drama has been part of the funding portfolio for the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW since 1994. The NRW Radio Drama Forum is an annual working conference for the young generation of radio drama authors in German-speaking countries. In lectures, discussions and working groups, the participants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland search for new innovative formats and avenues of distribution.
